Level 1 - Caveman Drawings!

there isn’t much to post about this week….I did a bit of sketching for my personal project(doodles above), worked on my homework for a head hands, and feet course i’m taking with brainstorm school, got frustrated with my current skill level, and spoke with my counsellor about it.

what I do wanna highlight is just how much I prefer drawing in pencil, even if the results are bad I just love looking at the sketches and getting the feeling that these are just more elaborate caveman drawings.

I have a huge interest in history and culture which is why I love fantasy art and character design, so whenever I can make my art look aged, weathered, and old it just adds to the aesthetic and story I try to convey in my art “Style” ( Whatever that looks like). pencil drawings are the quick and dirty way to do this, every line and mistake is there to be seen, they may not be the focal point but they add history and personality to the drawing itself.

so i guess the spellword of the week is : History!

Level 0.5 - First page worst page!

USUALLY, WHEn i start a new sketchbook I scribble on the first page “First page worst page” This elevates the fear of messing up….. this doesn’t work digitally, plus i had various ideas of what to do for my blog the main idea being a s.o.t.w (sketch of the week) post like 2 fantastic blogs i still look at for inspiration by Vinod Rams and Steve Prescott. this drawing of a dragonborn rogue was meant to continue that trend but was also inspired by the late great master William o connor who'd use a Dungeons and dragon character generator to give him a short description of a character he would draw, I gave that a try but strayed away from the prompt in the end.

i don't think I will be sticking to doing a Sotw at least not to this level of detail/time commitment.

Instead, I will try doing a weekly post without pressuring myself into needing a finished sketch but instead building the habit of sketching something each week.

so as this doesn’t truly count as the first page, worst page, I've yet gained a full-level, which means back to killing goblins and farming XP.
